Clemens Staudinger won the 'Wilhelm-Macke-Award' 2018 (Ac. Year 16/17 and 15/16)

This year 5 candidates from 2 academic years competed for the Wilhelm-Macke-Award determined by audience vote on April 05, 2018. The winner is Clemens Staudinger from our ITP, second came Lukas Kehrer (SOMAP) and third Anreas Hinterreiter (ZONA).
Melanie Plöckinger (ITP again!) and Bernhard Steinhauser also won a Macke prizefor their thesis.Congratulations to all nominees!

Austrian president Fischer honors ITP doctoral graduate Johannes Höller

Johannes Höller graduated with a doctorate degree under the auspices of the Austrian federal president Dr. Heinz Fischer. He completed all classes and examinations during his schooling and at the university (ITP, JKU) with “distinction”. Graduating Sub Auspiciis is Austria’s highest, most prestigious academic honor attained by only 20 out of 2500 graduating doctoral candidates per year. We congratulate Johannes Höller for his outstanding achievement!

Prof. Titulaer is the first recipient of the JKU Ring of Honor in recognition of his outstanding and groundbreaking work in science, research and teaching as well as his contributions to the advancement of the Johannes Kepler University.

QFS 2010 Satellite Workshop - Cold Gases meet Many-Body Theory

A satellite workshop of QFS 2010: "Cold Gases meet Many-Body Theory" will be held on August 7, 2010 and will take place in the CNRS-Institut Néel, 25 rue des Martyrs, Polygône Scientifique, Grenoble. It aims to bring together the two communities of quantum fluids and cold gases in order to stimulate fruitful interactions and to explore the application of quantum many-body methods to cold gases.

Honorary Doctorate Degree awarded to a.Prof.Dr. Reinhard Folk

On December 3, 2009, a.Univ.Prof.Dr. Reinhard Folk (Institute of Theoretical Physics) was awarded a doctorate honoris causa by unanimous vote for his work as an academic advisor at the Institute for Condensed Matter Physics, Ukrainian Academy of Sciences in Lviv, Ukraine.

As it is stated in the decision, this degree is awarded to him for the basic results which provided explanation and accurate quantitative description of various types of critical phenomena in condensed matter and for his personal initiative and participation in different projects aiming at strengthening collaboration with Central and Eastern European countries.
